The Trash Rash - Music out of Trash project

The Trash Rash- Music out of Trash project (22 July to 2 August 2011) is an idea of the German association "Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V.", whose aim is bring young people from different countries and backgrounds together in order to cooperate, share ideas and interact with each other in European level. The topic of the Trash Rash project is to create musical instruments out of trash and materials that we usually throw away with the final aim to play these instruments and perform live in the Sun Flower Festival (29-31 July 2011). The young participants will get involved in a European  Youth Exchange Project which raises European and environmental awareness, promotes  European citizenship, solidarity, creativity, cooperation, cultural diversity and gives the opportunity to young people with fewer opportunities to participate actively in artistic workshops and cultural  activities and express themselves in their own way.

The association “Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V.” points on giving young citizens and young adults a possibility to be creative and to organize and arrange activities and events, achieve social skills and get trained with the methods of non conventional education. For this reason the association carries out projects and integrates adolescents. With the help of those activities, performed in the projects, social integration as well as competences in the fields of culture, art, organisation, publicity, event-management and many more should be supported, developed and trained. The main part of our work consists of providing the general frame and giving basic knowledge for the realization of the projects. With the help of our professional supervisors, workshop leaders and social workers every idea has the possibility to become a successful project. We take care of coordinating projects and informing about the regulatory requirements.

Another part of our work consists of the integration of associations and initiatives and supporting promotion of young, talented artists, giving them a free platform for realising their ideas and a possibility to express and accumulate art.
The association has established its training activities to an international level, organizing residential workshops in mixed national groups we provide cultural diversity and creative learning atmosphere. Since 2000 the “Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V.” is organizing and carrying out annual International Work Camps. In July each year we welcome about 45 participants between the age of eighteen and thirty. The participants arrive from Dresden and Freiberg in Germany as well as from countries all over the world like Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Japan, Korea, Chile, Canada and the USA to spend twenty days with us during the organization and the events of the Sun Flower Festival.

Between 2008 and 2009 the association was the project coordinator of three International Youth Exchanges, each with the duration of ten days, including participants from Bulgaria, Spain, Poland, Hungary and Germany. The organized workshops contained subjects like juggling and fire art, black-light theatre and fire dance performing on stage and circus art. Through its public activities the association has managed to involve at about thirty professionals and learners, volunteers and occupational working in the field of cultural management, art and social pedagogy, free lance artist and trainers.
